My plant-based journey
My plant based journey began when I questioned myself on why we slaughter and eat animals. I was about 15 years old and I asked a question to my environmental science teacher, “Do we have to eat meat to survive?” she responded something like, plants can fully nourish us, but we have to be careful to make sure we consume the right foods in order to fulfill all of our nutrient requirements. Since my teacher did not eat meat she motivated me to become vegetarian. It was easy for me to quit meat because I never loved eating meat anyway, but dairy and eggs was a whole different story. Five years later, realized I was lactose intolerant and tried to cut dairy out of my lifestyle, but unfortunately gave in to family/society pressures to start eating meat and dairy again. My second year in college I took a couple health classes and learned the basics about nutrition. Even though with more knowledge I started eating animal products on occasion and mostly sticked with plant-based foods (because plant foods made me feel better). After learning more about our health and the horrible animal agriculture cruelty. I then decided to take action and slowly became vegetarian again and after six months I became plant-based. I’ve been plant-based a year and half now and to tell you that I absolutely love my lifestyle. To be honest I don’t want the whole world to be plant-based, but I want people to understand their own bodies and learn about animal rights. People need to educate them selves about nutrition and animal cruelty thus, they will be able to make their own decision whether to become plant-based or mostly plant-based.
